Beyond the surface

Anyone out there just getting tired of Facebook and Myspace? I'm about at my limit. I've already deleted my Myspace and debating doing the same to Facebook. I'll probably hold on to it though. Just so I can keep in touch with friends from the past or current ones and what they may be up to. Me? I guess I'm searching for something a little more "deeper" or meaningful than just talking about what I like to call "surface" stuff. Seeing as I've done this blog thing before and even though it was years ago, I do remember topics that were pretty deep and actually made me and whoever reading, think.

We as a society either don't have time or really don't care to know others as a person. It's like we skim the surface of who someone is and in our minds that should be good enough to count as being a "close friend" or "caring person." My opinion is you want to know the outside, u have to find the realness of a person by looking in. What makes someone who they are, why do they so the things they do and so forth. We SO spend more time than not just worrying about ourselves. I guess that's why I talk about food so much on my Facebook. I see over and over posts about meaningful stuff and no one says a word. People bring up, like me, food, the weather, plans made or yes, even some one's drama and they get 30 comments on it with others opinions.

We have a situation here in our home town that is of the serious kind. A well known business owner and teacher and yes, a Christian is being accused of some pretty bad things. There's only been one report and it was a short review of what had happened and just enough to peak your curiosity and make you wonder how things will end or even to draw peoples own conclusions. I've been monitoring the comments on the local news website where the story was posted and all the comments from anyone coming across the article and voicing there opinions. Almost 100 comments were posted and over half of the comments slammed this guy in the worse way.  My point to this without getting into detail is that people "skim the surface" like with this teaser article and BAM judgements are cast out, hostility rises and whatever else goes along with it. It seems the longer I live and the more I pay attention  to events and how people deal with things I learn that we don't take the time to find out things as much as possible and to reserve our judgements. And judging others is something to talk about for another time.

All I'm saying with this post is that we need to slow down a little. Actually "see" who others are and what they are about. We so many times see a "pretty face" and think "beautiful person" when in reality we don't know that until we learn them. This is my first of many posts about many things. My views, opinions, thoughts and emotions about how I feel about life and people. Things that aren't always a good topic or well talked about conversations. Stuff that's a little deeper than what's on the menu for lunch ;)

My title for this blog is The sounds of Laughter for a reason. I'm finally at a place in my life that I've fought to get out of the hell life makes for you sometimes. Or even what we make for ourselves. The choices we make can do that. I've finally found my "happy place" and am finally having fun and living life. This blog is about my journey of keeping the sounds of laughter in my life from here on out. To finally look forward to a future I thought was unobtainable to me. Man, I sure am glad I was wrong about that.

Hi Crystal,

Wow! You've made a beautiful start here- and you're giving us more to think about than sending hearts and hugs etc- to each other! :)

Not that I'm that 'down' on FB-I DO find it fun- but I only went there in the first place because so many of my blog friends had done so. I have been a little dismayed that 'blogging' seems to have fallen off dramatically and I think it's due to FB and (MySpace & Twitter) These places offer a quick-fun way to keep in touch with ppl but very little room for creativity or discussing anything serious!

Have fun with your new project!
I'll visit again and hope you'll check my blogs out too!! All can be found from my main one.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing
the layout of your site? Its very well written;
I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little
more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.

Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?

I absolutely love your blog and find almost all of your
post's to be what precisely I'm looking for. Does one offer guest writers
to write content for you personally? I wouldn't mind producing a post or elaborating on a number of the subjects you write about here. Again, awesome website!

This is the right website for anyone who would
like to understand this topic. You understand so much its
almost hard to argue with you (not that I really would
want to…HaHa). You definitely put a fresh spin on a subject that has been written about for a long time.
Wonderful stuff, just great!
